Crossroads TV looking at Alberta
by John Syratt

CTS, (Crossroads Television System) a southern Ontario-based Specialty TV service, originally founded in 1998 by David Maines, will soon be making application to the CRTC for a license to launch new TV channels in Edmonton and Calgary.

CTS president, Dick Gray, was in Calgary recently meeting with independent production companies and churches interested in developing their own TV programs.

"We are a unique kind of TV service," Gray said, "We are informed by Christian values and we call our type of programming ‘television you can believe in.’"

"For the past several years we have worked successfully with the faith communities from various religious traditions to produce a balanced schedule of religious and values-based programming," he continued. "Now, we are preparing to bring this unique brand of very entertaining and meaningful television to Alberta."

Initial thoughts for the Alberta stations would include the creation of 10 to 12 hours of Alberta produced programming.

"We are also considering spending at least 7 million dollars over a seven year period for original programming as well as licensing programming from Alberta based producers," Gray affirmed. "In addition, we plan to present a showcase of Alberta produced documentaries during a weekly time slot."

In Alberta CTS can be seen on Bell ExpressVu on channel 651 and Star Choice channel 355. For more information visit www.ctstv.com .
