Calgary
is in Alberta,
Canada, and snuggled east of the Rockies
in Alberta, Canada. About hour west of the city is
Lake Louise and Banff...world
class tourist and skiing! Note in the picture below the tall tower in the background
is
called the Calgary
Tower (nee: Husky tower). Its shape was used to model the torch for the
1988 Winter Olympics held in Calgary. There is also a second
Bankers Hall tower now.
Downtown Calgary looking toward the North West
Our
city is proud to host many special events and conventions...every
year in the second week of July the world famous Calgary Exhibition
and Stampede takes place. The whole city joins in during that week
to cut loose and have fun. Even downtown bankers wear jeans and cowboy
hats!
Because
of this western hospitality, we were honoured that the Rotarians decided
to hold their huge annual convention in our city 1996, the World Police
and Fire Games in 1997, and of course don't forget the 1988 Winter Olympics
were held here also!
